OER Basics, Fundamentals and Applications in the Life Sciences
March 9, 2022
4:00-6:00 pm (CET)
For those interested in OER
Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching and learning materials that are freely accessible. Since they allow an adaptation to specific teaching and learning contexts, OER can simplify the conception and realization of educational offers. The creation and publication of OER offers the opportunity to make one’s own work visible in the academic and scientific community. Furthermore to use and produce offers valuable chances to further develop teaching and learning together with international partner universities to actively contribute towards an open teaching and learning culture.
Despite these opportunities, OER are not yet fully established in the higher education sector. Reasons for this include individual uncertainties regarding legal, technical, or didactic issues. In this workshop, you will learn about the characteristics of open educational materials and reflect on opportunities and challenges that go along with their use. A special emphasis lies on copyright and open licensing. In interactive exercises and with examples from the life sciences, you will learn how to integrate OER into your work and what to consider when creating your own OER. In addition, you will get to know the key functions and features of the Lower Saxony OER-portal www.twillo.de as well as other tools & ressources.
